Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly is Career Services?
    • We’re a group of staff who love supporting others and helping them succeed. Whether you know exactly what you want to do or you are trying to figure it out, we have resources and connections to make the process easier. Through career tools, brainstorming and good old fashioned conversation, we help to identify values, goals and strategies that you can use in your academic and professional life!
  • Is coming to Career Services scary or overwhelming?
    • We made sure that coming to career services is an enjoyable and educational experience! Expect to have a one-on-one conversation with a staff member who cares about you and your goals. It’s our job to help you explore, research and navigate the professional (and fun) world of work!
  • Where are you located?
    • Career services is conveniently located on the main floor of the Todd Wehr Memorial Library. The Learning Commons hosts a variety of peer-led academic resources and is a popular hub for students to collaborate. Grab a coffee from the main-level coffee house on the way and meet up with friends after for a study session!
  • Do you only help seniors?
    • Career exploration doesn’t start and stop during one’s senior year. It started as soon as you decided on a school and major and will continue until after you retire. We assist any currently enrolled student or alumni FREE OF CHARGE during any stage of the career development process.
  • How do I make an appointment with you?
    • Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students can make appointments by vising Handshake. For alumni, please email Lydia Guell, at lguell@d809.com
  • What if I don’t have specific questions, but I want to learn more?
    • We love when students make an appointment to find out more about career services and how our office can help them. You may not know exactly what kind of assistance you need, but we can brainstorm together and show you lots of great resources you may not know about, both on-campus and off-campus.
  • Career Services says they can meet with me as an alumnus but I moved out of state.
    • We meet with many alumni all over the world. We are happy to schedule a phone or virtual appointment with you. Some alumni also prefer to correspond over email. We are here for you whether you are in Waukesha or not!
